Auction House Countdown Will Begin 48 Hours Before Phase 4 Launches for Cataclysm Classic

Luxrah Luxrah • Updated June 7, 2025

The Auction House update that will accompany the coming phase of Cataclysm Classic will begin with a countdown 48 hours prior to the patch going live. During this countdown period, players will be warned that unsold items will be returned before the countdown ends. The Auction House will still function, but auction durations will be capped to whatever the remaining time is in the countdown. When the countdown ends, the Auction House will effectively close until the update goes live.

You can read the details of the Auction House changes in our previous Updated Auction House news post.

With scheduled weekly maintenance next week (Tuesday, February 18 in this region), we’ll implement our planned Auction House updates 11.

Approximately 48 hours before the patch in each region, the Auction House in Cataclysm Classic will enter a countdown phase. During this time creating new auctions will display a message notifying players that any unsold items will be returned early and deposits will be lost. Players can continue to create, bid upon, buy, and cancel auctions throughout this timeframe, but all auction durations will be capped. At the end of the countdown period, a new message will notify players that items cannot be posted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we update the AH!
