There's a few wouldn't want to live without

- Bag management (ArkInventory)
- Button management (Dominos)
- Displaying debuffs/procs (WeakAuras)
- Unit frames (Grid)

Other than that I guess a threat meter, some gathering addon, MoveAnything, TomTom, AutoProfit (selling grey items with a click), chat log (Elephant) will be useful.

You're better served by sticking to

  • wowinterface (classic)

  • curseforge (classic)
  • and
willitclassic for a curated work in progress list.

There we go - yeah I'd trust those sites more. I couldn't remember Curse's name.

Also today I learned that curse was bought by Twitch. And that Twitch is owned by Amazon.

That sounds bizarre for a website dedicated to offering up WoW addons. Things have changed a lot over there since I was last looking for them...

Curseforge will have whatever you are looking for and typically a good working version of it after just a couple days. I've been going there for whatever addons I use for as long as I can remember.

  • Atlas Loot (so nostalgic)

  • Threat meter (because I'm a tank)

  • Enemy cast bar (because I'ma tank)

  • Probably a warrior-centric addon (no clue... pointers are welcome)

  • Vendor price addon (because I want to know which gray items to sell to NPC when my bags are full)

  • Possibly "What's Training?", because seeing what ability is available at what level, and how much it costs sounds very logical.

  • MAYBE an auction addon, but I want to keep things casual so I may skip this one.
  • Also, I will NOT be using Questie or Tomtom or any other quest / coordinate helper addons. Reading quests is just really fun for me.
Very offtopic, but I would love it if there was a server with NO map / minimap. That would be so immersive.

  • Might wanna try a swing timer.

I mean you could un-bind the M button to keep you from bringing up the full sized map. And there are some UI mods which let you move the mini-map, so there's gotta be a way to turn that off too if that's what you really want.

I'm gonna use the same addons I used to create this beautiful UI:

I mean yeah it's doable, but I wouldn't want to gimp myself vs. others  I was thinking more in hypothetical terms for a more "hardcore" server where noone has maps. The direction posts ingame would be really useful, and you could ask people for help / directions.

1.12 addons will not work for Classic*

    * unless their authors have specifically rewritten them for the Classic client as is the case for some popular addons (Luna, YaHT etc)

I have no problem with this.
First time I played WoW we made it to level 70 without knowing what Addons were. They are helpful yes, but they take away some of the fun from adventuring.

    My must haves were:

    OneBag
    Questie
    LazyPig
    XPerl
    Recount
    BGAlert

Absolutely gorgeous! I'd play with a UI like that.

Myself, I'm going to keep it lightweight too:

  • TukUI

  • YaHT

  • Vendor Price

  • Classic Snowfall

  • Auctioneer

  • This is probably all I will need at the start as a Hunter. I might add a simple node tracking addon of some kind, but other than that this is all I feel I will really need during my leveling and early endgame days. I could pile on the addons and completely turn the game into something different, but I feel that would kind of defeat the purpose of going back to Classic. I either didn't have or didn't know about any of this stuff back in the day.

The only add-on I'm gonna use is Questie. Some may dislike this and consider it 'cheating' - but I've played Classic for so long, completed these quests so many times - I'm quite happy to let Questie do some of the work this time.

New players, however, I wouldn't recommend you use Questie. Immerse yourself in the game as it was intended (at least once).

I really hate Elvui and Xpearl so thankfully Luna Unit Frames exists for me.

Is it confirmed we will be able to use an old addons or we should look for updated ones?

considering its a client 8.x.x engine, then most likely none of the old classic addons will work, as some of them use the old macro system which is very different than current iteration.

You guys do realize that most of the old addons you are wanting will not work. Classic uses the 7.0 client & modern addons. A lot of the modern addons are being updated for classic, but I don't think many of the old ones are . You can check https://willitclassic.com/ to see which ones are working. Here is my list so as of now:

    Atlas + Loot + Quest + World - Maps & items/quests for instances.
Auctioneer (Auctionator) – lets me post & undercut auctions
Bagnon (OneBag) – Combines all bags into one bag & bank
ClassicAuraDurations - shows timers for HOT's/DOT's
ClassicCastBar - shows enemy cast bars
Deadly Boss Mods – helps with boss mechanics
Handy notes – lets me mark the map & put notes on them
Leatrix Plus - QOL addons: move frames, hide gryphons & others
Questie – Better quest tracking (or similar)
Recount – keeps up with your (group) damage/heals
VendorPrice - adds a simple price to the item description
    WeakAuras - cooldown/aura monitor

These are just the ones that are working so far, my full list is here: https://playvanilla.blogspot.com/p/add-ons.html
