I've been considering upgrading the GPU on my media center PC in my living room so that I can use a wireless Xbox controller to play NFS Heat, Assassin's Creed, etc and the kids can play Sonic Mania and some VR games.
I see a lot of used GTX 1070 cards on ebay for under $225, the 2060 looks to be about $300 but the performance seems to be very similar.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe an AMD card would be better for staying close to $200 and getting as much performance as possible?
whatever you choose make sure it pairs with your cpu as to not bottleneck.
I'm still rocking a 1070 Ti and it's a great card. I want to upgrade to a 2060S but it's only a 5% increase so I'm waiting for AMD prices to drop or AMD to release "BIG" Navi chipset.
if you can find a used - like new 1070 go for it. I'd save the rest of the money for some other upgrades like an SSD or something.
I ended up going with a GTX 1070 Mini for about $215. Already have an SSD and everything else I need in that machine, just didn't want to try gaming with only a 1060 3GB card in there
Should be good enough for some controller based games and light VR gaming.
In my opinion, both cards are comparable. I would buy a cheaper one.
