Hey guys. I played a bunch of classic when it released, and got to level 35. I quested through a bunch of zones and I ran every single dungeon I could with no problem finding a group. The last time I logged off was outside of SM, with dozens of people looking for groups.
I took about 4 months off, played some new games, and decided that I'd be returning to continue my classic adventure this week. So I log in at primetime on a friday night and SM is completely empty. I didn't think much of it at the time, so I hearthed to Stormwind and tried to find a group there. I tried forming a group in general chat and trade chat for almost 2 hours before calling it quits. The only instances I saw people spamming LFG for were Scholomance, BRD and MC.
I'm frequenting the Classic WoW subreddit and it seems everyone there is farming honor and MC, awaiting BWL's release.
Basically my question is, did I get left behind? Am I screwed? Is it just my server? (Sulfuras/Alliance) Should I transfer to a PvE server? Just wanted to know everyone's opinion.
Thanks!
The time to run levelling dungeons was months ago when the bulk of the server was still levelling. By now there are very few players left under level 60, and the characters under 60 are likely alts. You're not going to find groups as easily now as you were four months ago. I'm not sure it would be much different on a PVE server either.
This is all compleeetely server based. I'd say speaking for the entire game in this way is a total mistake.
On Faerlina for example, during the day, people are constantly looking for all dungeons. Only takes about 15-30 mins to put a group together for your dung of choice. Unfortunately the reality is that you need to be on the highest pop realms to get into dungeons at lower levels.
The real problem that still remains is that 50% of the LFMs are for carry groups where you're expected to pay.
The nature of the launch was pretty weird in itself I think cause a majority of the people playing right now probably started at launch
Back in 2005 people joined the game gradually so there were always noobs
Personally I've got like 50 days played on my main and just now I made an alt, and im seeing the same thing you are
I honestly think it depends on the server. I'm leveling on a high population, PvE server and have no problems finding dungeon groups. There's plenty of new players around in addition to the people leveling alts, so maybe your best bet is a PvE server. Newer players seem to be more attracted to those in my estimation.

Yup. and super yup on the LFM mafia-type payment thing.
