The queue for name reservations went fast because after 3 characters were reserved, players exited the game and patted themselves on the back for reserving what they wanted.
Exactly
Ugh. Hope the queues for pvp servers won't be that bad.
I moved to Fairbanks from Whitemane. Just to see if the queues aren't too bad. I'm not in a rush..so if I can't get in on launch day on a "High" pop server then I'll switch to Medium or Low, not a huge deal for me.
Are people who are in medium / high population realms at the moment really expecting to not have to deal with queue times come launch? I really think that every realm is going to be fucked pretty hard by the massive amount of people trying to login and play. I highly doubt that the people who aren't resubbing until the day of, or those who just don't care about name reservation, are going to select a "Full" realm to try and roll a character on. Those people are going to select a Medium / High realm. I wouldn't be surprised even in the slightest if every single realm currently accessible is going to be fucked, and Blizzard will have to quickly add additional realms like they stated in the AMA that they are prepared to do.
I'm worried for Oceanic PvP. There is only 1 choice, so no alternative. If I have huge queues, I just have to suck it up. Not looking forward to that.

As they increased the number of Germna servers I suppose that, if needed, they will increase the number of Oceanic ones
#NoChanges my friends, transfer to lower pop realms wasnt a thing back then! :p

Only transfers were available. Server merges happened regularly. And overpopulated or imbalanced servers regularly gave players the option for free transfers (typically before a merge took place on a low pop realm).
I am not 18 anymore and can wait hours to play...the time spent in queues may be the same amount of time i planned on playing that evening...so i wont be able to play...i know i want a server with a good community and population so it wont feel dead but if i cant play what is the point lol
Exactly this. I have a character on Skeram, Stalagg, and GROB MOB.
On launch day we will see which one doesn't have a queue and I will likely end up calling that one home.

Yes I remember this but you dont have the option to select which realm you want to go to.
Mostly selected the high/full pop realms to transfer to say 1 or 2 low pop realms as an option
Reddit has started another server census. Still a small sample but Stalagg is surprisingly larger than Herod.

I don’t want to stay on Shazz, but my vanilla guild is reuniting and attempts to convince ~30 people to move have failed.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place; meaning between my stubborn guildies and a company that thought 2 PvP servers were enough on “pre-order” day.

Read this. Understand the final paragraph when you try and wrap your head around how many people will be on your server. Particularly for those who played Vanilla on a full or high server where queues were commonplace. I will be on Blaumeux because it will already have more people on it than any server I played on in Vanilla and I remember how hard it was to come by resources and tag world bosses.
Said it in the other thread already, but I relocated my entire guild to Firemaw away from Shazzrah. Quite a lot of our members were very worried and it became obvious that we might simply just lose members, either simply quitting due to the 3 hour queues, or from moving to another server while we remained.
By moving while the server is still medium we basically all managed to get the names we wanted (think I've counted 3 folks so far that lost out on the name they really wanted), and even though absolutely every single server is likely to have queues at launch, at least Firemaw cannot possibly be as bad as Shazzrah which has been full for ages and Blizzard claims people are STILL making chars on despite being full for ages. They've been out saying that even the medium realms are more populated than even the most crowded vanilla servers ever were, and that anything above medium will have queues, so definitely happy with our choice. I never really understood the fascination with mega servers anyway, doesn't seem to have much community about it to me.
Hoping to see many fellow horde on Firemaw, we've got a bit more space in the guild too!
I went back and spread my three out between servers and plan on starting on which ever of those servers has the lowest pop on launch. Of course there's a good chance they could all be full real quick which means I may lay off a few days before jumping into the game.
