Is it possible to use another races starting zone? I know I can physically run to the zone I want to be in and simply start questing but what if for instance I roll an Orc Shaman and run to Mulgore? Can I start at the very first quest that would be given to a Tauren? Can I do the Tauren version of the totem quests?
I'm honestly not sure, maybe get someone from the Beta to test it out? I think Teebling has access?
As far as I know you can, but many of the class quests are race locked with a few exceptions.
Added to testing list.
Class quests are locked to race, I'm pretty sure. It was this way in Wrath at least.
Yeah you can start in other zones just fine. I leveled an orc warlock from the UD zone starting at level 1 and had no problems on the beta.
The only difference is that you can't accept the quest that has you fly to the nearest major city and back, so you're going to have to get that flight point manually.

Sorry I misread the initial post. Yes you can accept Mulgore quests however your class quests will be located in your race's hub.

Actually I was able to get both the imp and voidwalker quests just fine

Oh, I must have remembered wrong, good to know. Thanks!
If I remember correctly, it’s a mix. Played a lot of warriors back when and if I remember correctly the quest to get defensive stance at lvl 10 in Brill was undead only. I loved tirisfal glades so I went there with my orc warrior alt too, couldn’t do it while more general class quests like armor/weapon quests was tied to warrior only, not race. But I could be mistaken also
I can't stand the night elf starting zone, or undead (shudders). I've done them about 909120 times from all the rerolling/new characters I've made.
Off to Elwyn I go

This is how I feel about Durotar. My favorite race by a long shot is Orcs. They are the reason I got into the Warcraft series. But I have just beaten the zone to death. I want to start vanilla in a fresh new light. I really want to quest through Mulgore but I'm not sure I can part with being an Orc character.
To explain a bit better what I meant:
Some classes appear to be more loyal to their class than to anything else, such as Warlock. Other classes, such as hunter, Blizzard tied to their natural starting zone beasts before letting them out to explore the world. Where they came from and grew up is integral to the class. Sort of an RP thing going on. (Since Gloom confirmed this for Warlock.)
For BrHule, the biggest obstacle (if he is playing an Orc Warlock as his emblems suggest) is that there are no Warlock trainers in all of Mulgore or Thunder Bluff if I recall correctly.
A few classes could level to 10 without buying any skills, but I don't believe Warlock is one of them. Assuming he can quest in Mulgore in the first place, he would need to take time to go train his skills and hopefully his Imp Quest elsewhere. These are not insurmountable obstacles however, and I highly encourage you to go quest in Mulgore despite them and the Druids tagging mobs with moonfire if you will bond with your character more there.
Gloom - interesting that you mention the FP quest: as far as I know the native race(s) to each capital actually start with their capital's FP and the quest doesn't give it to them, they just have it.
Linguine I was thinking more about leveling a shaman alt. Leveling a class in a zone that has no trainer would be insanity lol. What I'm mainly worried about is bringing an Orc to Mulgore and finding out I can't do the totem quest there. Which at the end of the day, it's just a starting zone that will be finished and over with fairly quickly. And there's always the option to visit the zone after level 10.
Brhule You'll definitely have a better chance as an Orc Shaman in Mulgore than a Warlock lol. If anything I don't think you're totems are 100 integral to your first few levels so you could always just visit the quests once you leave Mulgore if you end up not being able to do them there.
