Hi,
I'm wondering if I run AV 8hours/day, is it possible to reach the rank 14 or would I need to spend more time on it? Thanks.

Hi Trefort,

This is a difficult question to answer because of how the honor system works.

I'd suggest reading this post over on reddit which breaks down how the ranks are calculated each week.

As it stands at the moment you will be hard pushed to get anywhere close to rank 14 with just 8 hours per day.

You are basically scored against the performance of other players in your bracket each week, the more honor the top players earn in your bracket the more honor you have to earn to keep up. This is why (for better or worse) there are mafias that are formed who select a top honor earner for each week and keep it capped to a reasonable amount.

Basically, if you're not already rank 9 by this week's reset you are not on track to reach rank 14 any time soon.

That being said, if you're willing to wait 6-12 months for the nolifers to finish their grind you might find that your 8 hours a day gets you much further than it does now.

Hope this makes sense.

Please don't waste your life away on playing a battleground in a video game for 8 hours per day.

Not everyone has the same situations in life. While playing 8 hours a day is impossible for me personally, I’m not going to judge someone else for their availability and desire to complete whatever goals they have. If someone has the freedom to attempt something like this and the desire to match it, then more power to them. Very important to do what you want to do; it’s only entertainment after all. It’s not like it’s a career where you need to play 8 hours a day for the rest of your life. That said, as mentioned here already, 8 hours a day almost certainly won’t cut it right now and maybe not even later. If you wouldn’t judge them for playing video games (in any facet) 8 hours a day then there’s no reason to say something about them farming honor for 8 hours a day.

It is amazing to me that people can spend more time playing wow than you would have to work at a full time job. As the one dude above me said, more power to you if that's worth it to you. Me personally though I'm already starting to get a little burned out, and I'm not able to play anywhere near that much. But I'm starting to get distracted by a desire to get back into skyrim modding of all things.

The burnout is real man. There was so much content and so many things to do until suddenly there wasn't. I miss levelling but don't really wanna level an alt. I wish there were more raids to do. Now all there is to look forward to every week is like an hour and a half with my raid team. That hour and a half is a lot of fun, it just goes by way too fast. I really wish we had some BWL and ZG and AQ to raid right now.

I guess I got time to start meal prepping, cooking, and lifting again until the next raid tiers come out.

I think we all forgot how much time was spent just standing around in Ironforge/Orgrimmar chatting to people.

That was probably 80% of my vanilla experience.

For real though, this was always going to happen when you rush through a 15 year old game with levelling guides and BiS lists.

To be fair though, I didn't rush anything. It took me about 14 days /played to hit 60. I didn't use any levelling guides or BiS lists.

I spent three hours in ironforge tonight climbing up walls and throwing snowballs at people from above. And it was pretty fun. I still spend like half my time talking shit with people.

Man I wish there were more raids available right now lads.

Okay dad. /s

I don't know why some random people tell you what to do unless they are writing a guide.
Even if you have a amazing life and strongly feel like it's a waste of time to play video games 8 hour's a day, it's their choice, not yours.

Yeah idk I have very mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I fully believe in the "do what makes you happy" type mindset, and I also believe video games are an entirely legitimate hobby. That said, I don't think you will find many people who think that spending 8+ hours per day on any hobby is a healthy distribution of your time.

I mean most people work 8 hours per day doing something they'd much rather not do with that time.

If you're lucky enough financially to have 8 hours per day to do what makes you happy then go for it!

That being said, I feel like a lot of people that play this much don't actually enjoy the game past a certain point it's just an addiction.

Its a pretty easy subject in my opinion. "Can you take care of all your responsibilities in a way that you wont regret later and will leave you with 8 hours a day spare time"?
It just so happens that for the vast majority of us the answer is no.

Nailed it. I think a lot of people just want to project their own situation on someone else. It might not occur to everyone that some people legitimately don’t have the same responsibilities that you might and, if we’re being completely honest here, if my kids were out of the house/my house was paid off/my financial situation was secure/my girl wouldn’t leave me for doing it, I’d be perfectly content playing video games 8 hours a day lmao. Idk, I’m drunk. Those are some big “ifs” but some people genuinely check the box on all of those. Then there’s others that are fortunate enough to have a platform to broadcast themselves doing this and make it highly profitable. Sure, it’s not for everyone. But if you can do it and want to, then why not? Just be happy, people.
