BARE YOUR SHAME

We all know the stereotypes and a lot of us have lived through those as we became more and more obsessed with the best game of all time, but how bad did it get for you? A month long streak of no showering? Using empty mountain dew bottles because you didn't want to run to the bathroom during a raid? No judgment here, let's get it all out there and bare our shame! We'll all feel better afterward :)

For me... The worst it got was being the stereotypical college drop-out living in my parents basement, fast food trash everywhere, could barely see the floor, empty soda bottles co-opted for other uses, and my limit was when I was playing one night and I saw a mouse appear on my fucking desk. Normally mice are scared shitless of humans. This one thought my living space was so atrocious that he felt he was in safe familiar territory. He just appeared from behind a monitor as if I was expecting him to come chill with me that night.

That's the worst it got for me. Happy to say I now have a career at a software company, a wife, a baby, a house, etc and will never see those days again.

I was about 14 or 15 when I started playing, I had a few close friends from school that played too. Most weekends we'd take our computers to somebody's house and stay awake for about 48 hours with a balanced diet of pizza and fizzy drinks. I felt like death every Monday morning but it was worth it at the time.

My most shameful moment was during TBC when I picked up my keyboard and threw it across the room along with half of the stuff on my desk, I took a nice long break from the game after that little incident!

Safe to say this time things will be a lot more chill.

I reached about 120 days /played on Nostalrius within a year and couple of months.
I kept personal hygiene at top priority. Healthy nutrition - not so much.

I don't know how but I somehow managed to get my Masters anyway.

Not me, but a close friend of mine whose now a professional streamer over at Twitch.

He did literally nothing but work and wow for a few months straight. One day I walk into his den and there is a stack of pizza boxes perfectly placed that extended from the floor all the way to the ceiling. I wasn't sure whether to be impressed or disgusted.

This is what you meant to say, i know!

I don't recall any shameful moments but I defiantly played alot of wow during vanilla.
I do remember going to bed at like 3 or 4 am and waking up at noon or 1 pm to continue playing.
I would eat fast food and heat up frozen food because it was faster, in order to get back into azeroth.
It never got out of hand with health and hygiene but I was failing out of college because of wow, so i guess thats my shameful story.

Played too much that it affected my social life as well as my grades! Nailed it!

In the classic days I was a deeply depressed college student. WoW was a great escape and I logged about 200 days /played in vanilla across 2-3 characters. nearly failed out of school, longtime girlfriend left me, sister stopped talking to me for a bit, all my college friends moved on. Took a long time to become more healthy with how I approach games in general but I'm doing so much better now! Looking forward to playing in a healthy and reasonable way with my wife :)

My most shameful moment would be skipping a friend's funeral to play more WoW. I actually did this TWICE during vanilla, and it's one of my most profound regrets in life. Don't forsake your real life for your digital life - augment your real life with your digital life instead.

I was a piece of shit during retail vanilla, but I think my plans for Classic will make me an even bigger piece of shit. Check this out...

Computer location? I will be moving my computer to the island in my kitchen. This will place me a few feet from the fridge/stove/microwave, the washroom and the couch (to sleep).

Everything I need will be on the island. Clothing folded, snacks etc. I will have two large water containers near the island. Food prep? I plan to make chili. Yes, chili. Chili has all of the base nutritional necessities that will keep me going for the first month. I will cook two pots of chili and freeze them into individual containers. I will be eating chili for one month straight.

I will have two computers on the island, juggling my alt account in a major city to control the AH and playing on my main account leveling.

My brother (has also taken time off work) will be playing on his computer across the room.

Needless to say, my girlfriend is fucking disgusted but I've already done a few trial runs on private servers so I think she has come to terms with this. As far as showering goes, I plan to play 16-18 hours per day, sleep for 5 hours and shower / take a 30 min jog/sprint every morning.

A real bro would just leave it heating on the pot for the full two months.

I don't have any shameful story, but I do remember playing 3 entire days and stopped for a while cause my brain started playing with me. I went to the bathroom and saw a man on the kitchen... Needles to say I live alone. I almost shit myself, since then I keep a healthy gaming schedule.

It would only be weird if you saw him and found yourself dropping to a stealth animation in an effort to avoid his aggro range as you strafed through your kitchen.

At one point in WoW I was a top 100 PVE Raiding guild (Naxx - Worldwide) Priest in conjunction with being a top 15 PVP'er on my alt... this took a ton of time to try and support both playstyles, but I sure did enjoy it.

The ex wife, not so much, but she sucked anyway lol. /s
