Now i'm not sure about you, but i, and many classic community members are interested in BC after maybe a few years of legacy servers. How this system will work, i don't know. But my educated guesses point to a few ways blizzard might do it.
Number 1: A few years after our beloved classic servers have launched, blizzard will release Burning Crusade and we will be able to journey to level 70 in outland.
Number 2: There are whole new BC servers where we have to level from 1-70 (fresh server)
Number 3: Same as scenario 1, except we will be able to copy our characters to Burning Crusade servers and be able to play on classic and BC whenever we choose.
Number 4: Blizzard will not release BC at all and we will have Classic World of Warcraft forever
This is all a hypothetical situation for blizzards take on BC but it's just what i think will most likely happen. I might be completely wrong, but oh well  . This is years down the line so i'm not too worried for it.. yet.. Please give me your guys' thoughts on this and tell me if i am missing a very likely scenario.

There is already a similiar thread about this.
If they ever do it, i would preffer Number 2, fresh server.
As much as i love TBC, i think launching server for it would probably ruin Vanilla servers.
I see you are new here, welcome! :)

If legacy servers are a success, and all content on the vanilla servers is cleared, then I can't see why they wouldn't release TBC servers. Like you said, this is years down the line, and honestly not worth discussing yet until we see that legacy servers are succeeding. But thinking positively, I would love to see legacy servers do well and years after them a TBC server sounds great.

I think staying positive like this is the key to successful legacy servers.

Warm welcome to the forum, new guys!

From my perspective, biggest mistake they would make is continuing towards TBC with the same characters we played in Vanilla. This way all of the sudden the whole point of commemorating Vanilla vanishes away, as it becomes only the matter of time when we end up where we are now. If they would ever want to release TBC, it should be either fresh start or (and from my point of view a better option) - allow you to copy your character and continue from there, yet retaining the same toon on Vanilla server.

At the moment my focus is on Classic.

In a dream scenario, Blizzard woul release a server for each expansion (even the ones I wouldn't play) and each server would have a healthy population, but I know this won't happen.

Classic should always remain as a piece of video game history, a 'museum' you can go back to and experience, to see the foundation of the current game and how it was, and how popular that iteration of the game became to build what they have today.

Do I want to play the Burning Crusade era? Yes, I do, and even the Wrath of the Lich King era, but there will always be this worry of splitting the player numbers far too much -- it will not be fun for anybody.

I honestly don't even want to think about anything but Classic for now. Let's see what happens

I'm kind of like, still keen on just vanilla. But if BC were to be implemented at any time in the future, I would personally like to see it done in the way you mentioned above, Altoholic.

Welcome to BC btw

Let's see how Classic goes first, that's my stance on this. An interesting idea and one that definitely will desired by a lot of players who probably found BC more nostalgic and enjoyable than vanilla itself!

Personally my preferred method would be like this: The Classic WoW server remains exactly as it is, and nobody can progress further than 60. But an additional server is made for The Burning Crusade and all characters are copied from the Classic realms and added to the new servers. So, players have the option of remaining in Classic WoW for all eternity, but their characters would be ported to The Burning Crusade realms and they could continue from 60 to 70 if they wanted to do so, just like we were able to do back in the day.

Obviously the two games would be separate. Mail couldn't be sent from one to the other, players couldn't interact between the two realms - they'd be completely separate.

Yes! I totally agree with this and it would be great if they did this for people who personally found BC more appealing than vanilla or for people who want to play BC after vanilla.

I'm okay with it so long as the vanilla servers remain intact. Else we will be back to square one with people wanting vanilla servers again.

I desperately hope number 3 is the case.

I mean the dream would be to have at least the original "trilogy" and have classic to Wrath. I think it all depends on the success of classic and that alone. I would hope for number 3 but I dont know what the future holds. One things for sure though, if classic doesnt explode TBC will not even be a thought. On the other side of things, if it does explode Blizzard would be insane not to

I think I would be more interested in revisiting WotLK arena (IMO the most brilliant 3v3 games I’ve experienced) more so than any content in TBC, so I guess I’ll be waiting a while. Vanilla remake will certainly suffice for now, let’s see them do that right first.
