Via hotfixes, we’re working on several quality-of-life improvements that should go live in the next few days.
Black Lotus scarcity has been consistently among the top issues we’ve seen player feedback about, so we’ve decided to update how we handle Black Lotus spawns. Since the launch of WoW Classic, the game has used the spawn times and locations from original World of Warcraft, but population and social factors have led to Black Lotus being much more scarce than it was in original WoW. While these issues affect all mining and herb nodes to some degree, Black Lotus is especially affected because it has the special property of only having one spawn up at a time in each of the zones it spawns in.
In original WoW, designers planned Black Lotus around a technical limitation – only 10 spawn locations per node type could be active at the same time in the same zone. We no longer have that limitation, but it gives us a design intention that we can work with: Black Lotus was supposed to spawn in the widest variety of locations, while there could only be one up at a time in each zone. As always, our goal is to minimize differences from original World of Warcraft, and we feel this is a case where we can follow that design intention in a way that is warranted by modern conditions as well as beneficial to players.
We’re going to increase the spawn rate of Black Lotus, and we’re going to add many additional possible spawn locations in each of the Black Lotus zones. With a different hotfix, we’re working on making it so that a player cannot see a Black Lotus on-screen or on their minimap if they’re dead, unless they have 300 Herbalism.
For Warsong Gulch, we’ve identified a number of locations in the battleground where clever players have found ways to get to a place they were never intended to go. These exploits are decidedly unfair, so we’re putting a stop to them. In most cases, the way we prevent such things is to place an invisible gate that blocks the unintended path. However, that’s sometimes impossible, so we make the out-of-bounds location fatal.
We’re also working on a hotfix that should put a stop to one small annoyance – now, if a player is actively engaged with the mailbox or bank, they will be considered “busy” if someone else tries to initiate a trade with them.
We’ll have all of these changes noted for you in the next Hotfixes Update that follows them going live.
Thank you!

Maybe I can actually get some Black Lotus's to make some flasks lol
Nice, that should help a lot!
ok, they must adjust to the new ecosystem of wow classic
How about customer service and GM response? That's gotta be the top issue they've seen player feedback about.

Still don't think there's any improvement in that regard unfortunately.
Seems like an excellent and needed change to me. I'm all for changes that steer away from Vanilla if it keeps the game and servers healthier in the long run.
While it is a welcome change by itself, I can't help but feel like it shouldn't be necessary in the first place, if it weren't for the server sizes that were changed in the first place.

Water under the bridge at this point m8. The servers are what they are.

Yeah, they can hardly change it at this point, but does this mean we're doomed to suffering the consequences forever? What about when TBC or Wrath comes around, will Blizz have to constantly change the game to accommodate for the other changes already made?
I can already see layering coming back every few months when a major update or expansion is released, or people complaining about not being able to find herbs in Outland, etc. Imagine throwing thousands and thousands of people in to the relatively few zones that we have in TBC at once.

It really is going to be interesting to see what they do if they really do open up TBC. Since TBC hasn't even been formally announced yet, we still don't know what their server plans are. One way they could solve for this could be to not roll classic servers into TBC and to launch fresh TBC servers. Under this model maybe people could copy classic characters into it so you wouldn't have to start at level 1, but these new servers could have smaller population caps since they'd be new servers without any populations yet. This would provide an opportunity to try and re-balance factions as well - although if one faction simply has more people playing it across the entire playerbase then there really are hard caps on how balanced a server can ever really be. But since some servers got really wacky with their balance over time, at least this would provide an inflection point where they could be reset.
Hellfire Peninsula is really going to live up to its name though if we get 20,000 people flooding through the dark portal all at once  At least the classic game was designed around a much larger map with many more paths to level through. I remember TBC being a bit more linear with the zones, so instead of being able to go somewhere else and level, everybody is going to be mostly funneled through the same zones. There aren't 6 different starting zones in TBC, it's just Hellfire Peninsula. I can easily see layering being a big part of TBC as well. It's unfortunate but its just a game. I'll play it and have fun just like I have been in Classic.
