Well, I can imagine Blizz wants to give access not only to vanilla veterans but also to streamers, clueless kids and other people who never experienced vanilla firsthand. After all the Classic to be commercial success should attract more than just a subset of old vanilla players. Hence it requires to reach out and appeal to fresh population that never experienced it.

I think it's narrow minded to say that. Some of these wow streamers have dedicated their entire life to playing wow. Sure some of them are sellouts or got a toxic community behind their back. But we seriously need to give them credit for what they have accomplished. A lot of them also played in vanilla just like you I assume.

I see so many people hating on streamers the weirdest reason. And it just doesn't make sense that someone who have streamed wow for so many years shouldn't be higher on the beta list than people who played the game in vanilla and then quit.

That's just my opinion at least.

I do not say streamers are bad. Majority of them can be experienced players and well-deserving beta access. What I meant is that giving access also to streamers or whatnots with no prior vanilla experience is IMO fully intentional by Blizzard. They want feedback from different angles and also to expose beta to as many online/gaming communities as possible.

On the one hand this news makes me a but sad, because I’ve lost interest in retail since the release date was announced.
Can’t bring myself to enjoy it anymore because I’m just too excited for classic and have only logged in for an hour total since then, but now I’m just sitting around being bored.
But then again I feel that the wait will be worth it and I probably would enjoy leveling to 30 again less if I were to have done it already in beta.

I'm disappointed since I can't even set up my UI for when the full game releases. This is a major setback to anyone attempting to do a speedrun.

Not having some kind of "basically open beta" like they do with expansions really surprises me.

Something like this might be the least of their concern mate. Didnt they say no addons at release or have I misunderstood?

Well, at least I could still get a refund on my subscription. :X

Will sub again as soon as character creation is ready then.

I've myself have been playing since vanilla, been a hardcore raider with world 14 as my own record in more modern WoW. I've also been playing on several private servers during the last couple of years, enjoying Vanilla and i cant wait until August.

I dont have Beta access and i'd love to be invited, but i dont agree with a lot of you. When Blizzard releases Betas, mostly all they want is feedback, people to run around and find the small odd stuff that might be out of place. The game have already been developed once, now we're here just to make sure the small things are correct aswell.

I've watched every Blizzcon thats been available on virtual ticket, bought every collectors edition available and had an active subscription without interruption since Vanilla. Do i feel scammed by Blizzard? Absolutely not... 98% of all people on Beta have been randomly (fairly) selected to participate in Beta.

Saying that you've spent money and should've recieved Beta is like saying you've spent money on lottery tickets and demand a million dollar win. No you dont.

I feel like most of you here dont even want to be on Beta to actually run around test things but rather fix your UI, make sure your plans for release are correct and testlevel. That is NOT what betas are for and i hate seeing people getting into betas with that mindset.
If i'd get Beta, i prob wouldn't even level in the first couple hours, i'd run around to check stuff to see if everything looks alright, if fonts and numbers are the way they we're back in the day (btw their not..)

Someone might respond with "Well they gave out invites to all streamers". Well... yeah? So about 5 000-8 000 people have Beta access (if not even more) And about 50-80 people got handpicked because they are either streaming or are content creators. Thats approx 0,1% of everyone who have beta access.

We are all exitedly awaiting the realease in August, we've waited for 14 years, we can wait a couple of months more.

You are absolutely correct. I have played off an on since Vanilla. I didn't play much during some of the expansions, since I was busy with living my life. It is very random. I have NO major accomplishments in game... I'm not a raider, I don't pvp (my son does) and the most exciting thing I've ever done in WoW was get the "Long, Crazy Trip" achieve.

The picks for beta appear to be totally random, outside a few who were hand-picked because they provide LOTS of free advertising. (Smart business decision, honestly.)

Also, be sure you check your launcher. I had access to the beta three days before I got my email telling me I was invited. Just saying.

Yo can you post a picture of that statue? I'd love to see how you've displayed it.

We may also consider additional factors such as how long a player has been subscribed to the game so that we have the right mix of players to ensure great feedback toward making WoW Classic the very best experience for the community.

Basically sub length may be a factor but they probably want a mix of players who started in other expansions too.

yeah like the 10 year Statue you got if you were subbed all the time (it is around 1560€ to sub for 10years with 13€ a month).

I really do not know why blizzard is doing this because this will make the Pay for the Beta argument stronger.

In a way is better: while I was waiting for a possible Beta invite I relogged with a char in a private server at level 30 that I wasn't touching in at least an year. I was having a lot of fun then, after 1 week, I realized I don't want to burn out. It's hard to see other people playing while you just have to watch, but I think in this way I will be fresher in August :-)
