Was shooting the shit arguing with Redridge and Monarch in another thread and it got me thinking - I'm not really interested in video games anymore. I used to be a long time ago, but haven't really been into games for the past 10 years or so. Other than a little D3 sprinkled in from time to time. As WoW morphed into something unrecognizable from the original playstyle, I didn't just move on to another video game - I stopped playing games in general. The original World of Warcraft offered me something that I really enjoyed. As blizzard stripped away everything that I liked about it over time, there wasn't anything else out there to fill the void. So I just moved on to other things. And now that it's back, I'm still not really into video games - even though I'm going to be spending 40-50 hours a week in Classic for a long time to come. I just like this one, and if it changes for the worse over time or disappears then I'm probably done with gaming again.
I'm curious how many other people around here are also coming out of retirement as it were. How many other people here don't play any other games anymore and are only coming back to play Classic - you weren't playing anything before, and probably won't be playing any other games after you're done with Classic?
I'd be playing something regardless of whether or not WoW even existed. I love videogames, I always have and most likely always will. I love the communities, the conventions, even briefly worked in the industry myself. I don't keep up on news as much as I used to, but there's other things I like to do now as well, though games are still my favorite. I figure now that I'm pushing 40 and my love for games hasn't waned, it's because it is solidly a part of who I am.
Can you add an option for playing other games but NOT including retail?
Recently I've been playing Dark souls and Euro truck simulator.
There are a quite a few good releases coming out soon, Kerbal Space Program 2 has just been announced. Final fantasy 7 remake, Master chief collection on PC, etc.
I do not play Retail, but I'm playing bunch of different games. Such as Vermintide, League of Legends, Forza Horizon 4 and others. When Classic launches, I will most likely play the other games only in rare occasions.
I usually play one game at a time. So once classic comes around, I'll likely play it exclusively for the coming months.

Same here as is for many of us, just hope those who have not played will adapt to the play style of Classic over Retail. I've been dabbling in retail to get my much older hands and eyes working properly together for this. It has helped and retail just absolutely sucks and I'm done with it now and just waiting for the launch. My time will be much more limited than yours but I'm gonna enjoy it every exploring step of the way. Went Alliance last time and dabbled a bit with Horde but never leveled up very high so I'm going Horde to start. I'll have a bit more to explore and the quests aren't as stuck in my head as Alliance so it will really give it a new feel.
i have a lot of friends who play FFXIV and MHW (yes we be weebs) so i'll recon i'll keep playing those too, but whenever i play FFXIV (as a WHM) i sigh over how easy it is.
i just don't have much time with two kiddos these days, and my gaming is always balanced with how conscious i want to be the following day
I play a lot of different types of games but WoW, CS:GO and Minecraft are probably the only few that I've spent ridiculous amounts of time playing. Haven't had as much time as I used to since Uni has been quite taxing on my schedule, but I'm hoping to use my 3 weeks before the semester picks up again to level and enjoy the Classic world I never got to experience.
In my downtime with the guys, I'll likely be cranking out some games in Overwatch or recording some kinda junk for my YouTube (DreadBC if you're interested - working on finishing up Doom 2016 right now).
Ooh...Doom Eternal comes out in November....dis gon be gud.
I like to play Warcraft 3, but i'm stuck on the mission where Arthas is purging quel'thalas :/
I'm not a big gamer anymore, probably because most games these days don't interest me. I love WoW because it feels like more than just a video game. It's a social experience. It's a community. I don't feel like I'm a "gamer" when I play WoW in the same way I do when I play something like Starcraft or League of Legends. When I play WoW I feel like a person who is having a highly rewarding social experience online that just happens to use a video game as its medium.
I only play Old PS2 titles, right now im finishing the .hack // G.U. saga and Final Fantasy XII on Steam. I'm a completionist, so having a 100% achievements is a must.
I don't play as much as I used to years ago but I like a little SWTOR or guildwars 1 or 2, mostly prefer the first game of GW tho. also old school runescape. D3, FFXV, the witcher on ps4, sometimes Neverwinter. Used to be a huge FFXIV player but game time got increasingly hard to buy from over here without paying ridiculous amounts for it, so that sucks big time
Currently eagerly awaiting aoe 2 definitive edition
Quite a few actually! In fact, just a month or two ago, I went on a retro gaming binge and played all of the Westwood Command & Conquer games (so C&C '95 up through Red Alert 2) and several puzzle-adventure games like Myst and The Dig. I also fired up Diablo II a few days ago and logged some time on my elemental paladin.
Oh, and did I mention that I run a Minecraft beta 1.7.3 server? It's like the Minecraft equivalent of Classic WoW, or at least Wrath of the Lich King.
