Hey all :) I’m a big fan of old school game speedruns, and even moreso in the way in which at the time undiscovered bugs and glitches in the game are exploited to gain a better time.
Similarly in WoW in its original form I recall hearing about bugs that were discovered - some revealing (such as clipping theough terrain to reach unfinished or testing areas supposedly inaccessible to players - some for mischief (reaching the developer island and being interrogated by a GM) - and some used creatively to advance goals or gain a competitive advantage (wall jumping in WSG to hold flag indefinitely etc).
Were there any particularly memorable bugs as such that you remember from vanilla WoW? Do you think they will make their way into Classic by accident?
You could glitch the Deadmines portal by blinking through it as a Mage and access an unfinished tunnel. When you jumped through it using slow fall, you would land in a beta version of Hellfire Peninsula!
Sometimes zeppelins/boats would disappear in the middle of the world map dropping you into the sea. Only option then was to spirit res or ask a GM to get you back to dry land lol

Was that in the official servers? I used to play in a WotLK private server and happened to me a lot, but I didn't know it also happened in the official servers.
My most memorable glitches and bugs.
One that comes to mind will always be the famous wall-jumping that could take a patient player anywhere. As such you could take yourself under Stormwind.
You were also able to, by just the use of a mount, get under Orgrimmar by going to old Valley of Honor, and up to the Hunter area, make your way up the spikes, and jump over to a nearby building, and proceed to jump over the wall from there.
Sentry Totem fall bug was another one. Place a Sentry Totem, jump from Lumber Mill in Arathi Basin, and proceed to switch between character view, and Sentry Totem view, your character will stop mid-air each time you switch (or switch back) letting you safely descend great heights (unless the enemy killed the totem.)

Yeah it was on official servers for a while in alpha and earlye arly vanilla

Mad skills, was this in the game for a long time or did they hotfix it?
another one was using far sight - you could keep on recasting it and find really weird shit like little islands out in the ocean or other people's bases in AB etc

This I cannot remember, sadly. You were able to float in the air pretty much as you were viewing the Sentry Totem, but it did get fixed at some point because I remember being gutted about losing this trick.
Not a vanilla thing and not a bug I reckon but someone managed to get inside one of the rocky pillars in Orgrimmar post cataclysm - theres this weird room with an inscription ‘WKM’ on it and noone knows what it means. Creepy
This guy has a website called warcraft less travelled in which he explains how to get there.
He also writes about other hidden locations, quests and NPCs. Really interesting stuff.

I made a video about it a long, long time ago when Cataclysm was current expansion.

Certainly brings me back seeing all those videos I made. Content quality below average
But yes, this place existed, and as always, it’s a way for Blizzard to honour developers that has passed away.
Warcraft Less Travelled is my new favourite site. Sorry barrens chat our dysfunctional relationship is coming to an end

Giving up so easily, this relationship was never meant to be!
One bug that I still use today is the ability to Backstab an enemy whilst being in front of them. You need to get as close to the target as possible, then spam the move left and right function whilst also spamming the Backstab ability. Somehow this allows you to Backstab your target, even though you're not really behind them. This can offer a huge advantage in both PvP and PvE, but is significantly harder to pull off in PvP due to players having a tendency to run around a hell of a lot more than a mob ever would.
Wall hop onto Dun Baldar and spam fireballs and pyroblast and people coming out of the GY
