I'm trying to find a simple addon that will allow me to draw on my map, nothing more. I try to avoid overly complicated addons such as Cartographer that clutter my screen, and just want something that will allow me to draw a path on my map so that I can keep track of where to run during my herb gathering sessions.
For example, I want to be following an herb path such as this
Yet I do not want to have to alt tab every 3 seconds to ensure I am on the right path. (I do not have double monitor, and even if I did, it seems much simpler to have the cursor on the path map.)
bump
i did not find an addon for classic, just retail (routes)
the only idea i got is a bit unconventional, a work around that might work:
use power auras to create an overlay that resambles the route, or create costum textures of a route and then scale it to the right size and place it over your map.
setup would take time, but we could share the route textures and the pa string with other users, i probably look into it and try setting up my own route

I'm not too aware of that addon, though I'm thinking of maybe just using Tomtom waypoints to create some markers on the map to follow to somewhat resemble the routes I'm following online. Only issue is that the waypoints disappear upon my arrival, and glancing over the settings, I do not see a way to remove the option of automatic waypoint removal.
Kind of repeating what beaty said but yeah it would be really easy to just get an UI art addon, make a transparent background image of the route, and then just display it over your map. Low tech but would do the job.
You could print the map off and leave it infront of your computer. It may even add to your immersion. Perhaps you could collect a whole series of them and bind them in a leather-back book.

I've been using a path of Tomtom waypoints roughly coordinated to match the herb maps I've been following. I disabled the automatic waypoint removal, and it's been working fine enough.
I know you want an in game tool but following on the concepts above of mapping and printing.
I have basic drawing and layering tools on my site so you could maybe try and save your routes and plot out toggling which nodes your hoping to gain, just an idea.
