Well I wasn't sure what to expect during busy server times with satellite internet but it's working quite well for solo purposes. Grouping is a bit hairy due to just enough lag to make me say no if the group is larger than two. That's simply because they don't need me to drag them down with my lag. But I'm having a blast soloing, conversing with folks, and just being back in WOW. It just feels good.

Glad to hear how it is using satellite, i'm using Verizon cellular data to play, it costs an arm and a leg but I average about 100ms which is fantastic. Surprising how well it runs WoW considering it can rarely load a livestream at more than 180p and occasionally buffers on videos at 720p

I wish I could use a hub. But the cell service where I live is crappy. No line internet. So I'm stuck with satellite until some ISP expands to my area.

I used to have Viasat (Exede) where I live. they are a huge ripoff. I had 10GBs a month for $120/month..10GBs goes in literally 6 hours or so..Then we would purchase extra data..which made the bill way over $200/month. I ended up switching to something called Etheric Networks..but it's only available in California in the Bay Area/Rural parts of the Bay. It's great. I went from Exede 650ms - 800ms to 62ms to an East Coast WoW Server and 19 - 25ms on West Coast servers. I'm also able to play FPS games again.

If you're in Cali and near the Entire bay area, try using Etheric Networks.

You'll have to purchase a physical tower from them..which is $500 USD..but then the bill (for me) is $179/month for 1TB of Data.

Knox, hughes ripped me off more than viasat. For $70 i get 150GB a month. Hughes kept sending me faulty equipment that leaked my data so I'd have to keep purchasing tokens.

why not ask them for non-faulty equipment that leaks your data or you'll hire a lawyer. Should get them to come around.

They tried blaming me. I even unplugged everything from the modem and in 6minutes 100mb was leaked.
Told them cancel my service. I've been with exede for two years. Not a single complaint.

How rural are you? Satellite is your only option?

100ms which is fantastic.

for 100ms I cant imagine how expansive it is. Usually satellite avg at 250-300.

I have never had issues with hughesnet like that. You don't need tokens anymore. You still are capped on bandwidth but they have no hard data limits anymore, whatever that means. What I do know is if my bandwidth I pay for runs out I can still play wow with the no hard data limits things so I'm happy as can be. My wife can even work away on the internet while I game. Unfortunately though there is still enough lag to keep me in the state of soloing but I don't mind.

No hard limit means they will reduce your net speed. "Prioritizing" it. Meaning they slow it down significantly after you reach your allotted limit. The few times I actually went over my limit on ViaSat they said they reduced my speed but I never noticed. With Hughes I literally could not load web pages.
I'm glad you guys have no problems with them because my experience was one to remember and I'm glad I got out when I did. Just keep an eye on your allowance.
