It never occurred to me until he/she said it. But it's true.

i mean i love Classic but Retail will always be the better game for PvE & PvP focused people. Mechanics are better and arenas are not a thing in Classic.

Retail isnt going anywhere. Reeeeeelax. I'm sure a lot of sweaty Classic fans (who are just as irritating as the retail fanboys) would love to see Retail burn and die, but it wont. It will have a temporary drop off and then will balance after awhile. Classic will have a massive take off and then slowly fade. We will see declines at the end of each phase when there is nothing to do and then players will come back on phase launches but the game will slowly lose people over time as all games do. By Naxx, most servers will have a strong but small (in comparison to what realm pops are starting with) communities. Blizz will potentially release fresh Classic realms or new Classic+ content and that will win back a lot of people for a period of time, but people will always decline in population over time after content has become stagnant.

We will see a new retail xpac and a bunch of people will head to retail temporarily and then will trickle back to Classic. Then Classic TBC will probably launch and a good portion of vanilla WoW guys will be interested in doing something new, so they will head there with a massive portion of retail tourists. People will migrate around and play the things that Blizz makes, they always have and will continue to do so as long as the game appeals to enough people and while I cant relate to many of the people who like retail, there is a gigantic portion of people who like retail. Some people will play Classic, some will play retail, some will play both and many will at the very least act as tourists to all new projects temporarily.

Just how I see things going.

Before Warlords, I would have agreed with you.

Before Warlords, I would have agreed with you.

Warlords had excellent raids with refreshing boss fight mechanics. Blackrock Foundry is my all-time favorite raid purely because of the variety of bosses.

There just wasn't a lot to do outside of the raids, including PvP.

Warlords did a lot of right while doing a shit ton of wrong. Makes me sad because I enjoyed what they did right by a large margin.

That is melodramatic. BfA will have only a little hiccup for a while, that's it.

I give at least 50% of the people one week before running back to BfA.

I know a lot of people who could not stand to level a character in retail and use boosts every other month for their alts. When they realize that after two days they are still in Westfall/Barrens and they are not one-shotting things left and right and facerolling dungeons they will realize that it was all hype for them.

And this by not taking into account the different gameplay, itemization and travel QoL (HS cooldown, riding etc.), among others.

Other than a couple of LFRs I haven't raided since TBC. Karazhan is still my favorite raid, due to the boss variety and the lore. I absolutely love kara.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I believe Retail is more challenging than Classic. Its hard to imagine such an old game like Classic to be harder than Retail.

It is. There is no discussion about it. The mechanics of Classic were not hard but managing 40 people to show up on Raid day all prepared was.

I do not say Classic is a bad game or so. I will play it till Wotlk will come and will only play retail if they balance PvP better or the next xpack is cool.

I'd always choose community over mechanics.

You are mistaken in your statement.

The 'statement' is subjective according to each individual, but its very hard to argue that vanilla was better mechanically (literally) than vanilla, BfA's mechanics and engine are extremely viable, flexible and polished than vanilla (not classic, vanilla) ever was. So the statement isn't incorrect technically speaking.
Challenge/difficulty wise, well, I don't think anyone here is contesting that. However, boss mechanics are by today's standards a walk in the park, can that be considered "challenging" these days? Maybe.

Anyway, don't forget to hydrate a lot, and get snacks!

PvE yea, probably. But PvP, no way. PvP has become so streamlined in retail with every class having a heal, movement increase, etc, etc, etc.

Classic PvP was actually amazing and very team driven, unless you're a rogue.
