Just like what Teeny stated, when I was raiding pretty hardcore during Vanilla - we didn't focus on the FR gear for anyone but Ragnaros in MC.
For cloth wearers, flarecore gear helps give you some good FR without sacrificing too much of your performance (dps/healing)
For leather wearers, volcanic **
For leather wearers, dragonscale **
For plate wearers, dark iron
But those items won't be available straight away, there are several places to grab the info if you're looking to re-package it all into a guide here.
https://www.lurkerlounge.com/forums/thread-5415.html - much like this one.
Plenty of info running around out there.
Sorry to dig this up from the grave teebling but is this guide still happening?
Had to dig through my old google docs but found This Beauty
If you go to the Equipment & Enchants tab, it has both prebis and Fire Resist gear for the classes that require it. Some items, like the https://classic.wowhead.com/item=12602/draconian-deflector are already part of your prebis and worth keeping around as you get deep into the core.

Hey Z, long time no see!
I’d forgotten about this tbh - would be cool if people had any more input on the subject like Escalotes.
Great thread.
People back then were just crazy with the FR gear. You needed it for most Guild runs on Mc so i never went there. After seeing this thread i think it was bs all along
My warrior will be making a full set of Dark Iron just because it looks good. Nothing in this game is more important than looking good.

Ohhh thats why some of us Paladins wear dresses..... ;)
In addition to "The Classic List", this looks helpful https://brafish.tripod.com/FR.html
I was actually thinking of starting my own spreadsheet for what resistance gear to get. This guide would be an awesome tool.
