So they said this in the very last blue post regarding updates. I’ve got a feeling that maybe they will throw us some meat in the next week in the form of a dev watercooler...

What are your predictions?

Eh, I’ve stopped holding my breath when it comes to the flow of information. If it comes, great. If not, there nothing you can do about it so why get mad.

We are 3/4 months away from Classic, i don't know if this has been answered before but, will they do a Beta before release?

I bet we get just a tiny taste within the next week or so.

Assuming an early to mid June release I'd say some news in 2 to 3 weeks. Doubly so if they plan to do a beta, which if they did one would probably be late April to early May? I think all we'll get in the next update is some progress, then about the April/May timeframe is when they'll start doing some advertising. Though I don't see them doing a lot of advertising for Classic. They do seem to be treating it as a small side project so I doubt they'll get commercials or anything. Probably just web/youtube ads.

Perhaps this is a strategic move as not to draw away too much attention from retail? I honestly don’t think they even need much advertising. I feel like anyone who plans on playing classic already knows about classic and is like a mana-starved nightborne right now waiting for their next merciful morsel of classic news. That said, I really do wish this felt more like something they were proud of than just a pitty project. It would be nice, at least, to see a lot of forums engagement and if not news/updates, maybe some content like the one on Barrens Chat to movitate the pool of players so eagerly waiting for release. I mean... with the state of retail, I would be careful if I were them. They’ll need all the support they can muster!

I agree with this. The thing is, I don't feel like the devs fully understand how badly people want to play this and that any news is like a fix for heroin addicts. People want this game so bad that they have created own versions of it on private servers that have been operating for many years. I surely hope they give us a beta. Some fix is better than no fix at all lol.

It'd be nice to have more communication, but the WoW teams in general seem to be a bit light on communication these days. I think internally the project is being treated as something that needs to prove itself, which doesn't seem too out of line with how Blizzard has always run. At least that's the impression I've gotten from any behind the scenes stuff. Even the initial development of WoW was treated with uncertainty until something started to come of it internally. I think we'll see more support and communication once it gets closer to launch/post-launch.

Eh, I think the devs know how much people want it based on how committed they seem to be to getting the smaller details of 1.12 correct. It's just that devs aren't the ones that get to talk to the public. Probably under some sort of NDAs to not talk to the public.

Honestly, I am waiting for them to tell us "we're tweaking this and this and this and this" because they don't actually understand what it is we're looking for. Even though Ion (Gurgthok) played Vanilla. Sometimes it seems like he's more obsessed with trying to upstage Ghostcrawler than he is just trying to help guide a successful game to further success... /Mal'Ganis never forgets
