A while back Shamanigans mentioned that it'd be cool if we posted our progress through the game and seeing as I've had some time to play, I thought I'd do it. I covered my beta experiences in another similar style thread 2 months ago for anyone interested in reading more.
/images/skirm/8.png
I decided to roll on the EU RP server Hydraxian Waterlords - main reason being that I've never tried the roleplaying bit before and thought it would be a nice creative outlet and a side of the game that is completely fresh to me.
/images/skirm/1.png
What struck me the most, and this is great to me, is that it's just like any other non-RP server the general chat was an absolute clusterfuck as usual. There was the usual drab UK politics, awful C.N. jokes, inane and stupid shit that made no sense, and bundled in with all of that an actually interesting discussion about Gaelic language in Ireland and Scotland. It was totally random but I got the sense that there's a good bunch of guys on my server.
/images/skirm/2.png
That didn't mean I was unable to RP however - in fact I've already had many interactions with other players and in nearly every instance my 'mannerisms' or way of speaking have been reciprocated totally by the others. My favourite moment has to be meeting Lijo, a Troll who advertised his cloth bags on the beach of Sen'Jin in general chat. He was just there, chilling out by the waterside and fishing in the meantime.
/images/skirm/4.png
When I reached him he was already with a customer, but we got emoting/talking. I did that 'toggle walk' thing because I think it looks dramatic when you go up to someone and start your performance off. He offered me a very fair price of just 10 copper tip + materials to make the two https://classic.wowhead.com/item=4238 I wanted, then we talked a little longer about his wares and I left in no rush.

Levelling as a warrior is as you guys should guess, pretty painful. I mean honestly if you look back at my beta experience topic you'll see how hard you have to try to maintain all those stacks of temporary buffs, equipped pretty well for your level, and yet still die to a second mob being pulled, even after Hamstring kiting away. I died to a level 11 Crocolisk and killed it at the same time. Unfortunately Kron's Amulet is still out there in one of their bellies.
/images/skirm/12.png
I must have butchered at least thirty crocs by now, so it is becoming tedious, but in the meantime I've been ranging up and down the river banks collecting copper from the nearby spawns as well, since I'm collecting/crafting mining/smithing as I level up. Someone gave me two https://classic.wowhead.com/item=774 and two https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2318 for free when I asked in Durotar chat, allowing me to craft https://classic.wowhead.com/item=3488 which is a pretty big damage boost this early on.

/images/skirm/6.png
All in all I've really enjoyed my 5 or so hours of play time so far, and I'm looking forward to joining a guild here at some point. There's already some RP groups around for my server but I think the balance is very much tipped towards Alliance on Hydraxian at the moment. I really like how you can just be normal and as goofy as you want and also be able to immerse int he RP aspect too.
/images/skirm/10.png
I'll post again soon with my next round of observations. This is a fairly short post all in all because I don't want to repeat what I already covered in the beta experiences thread here.

Awesome teebs, enjoy mate!
Great shots, dude! I've actually been doing the same thing with the blog (The Footpad) in my signature. Though I've been locked out of Whitemane the past few days, so it's been a little harder.
Great post dude. Look forward to more. I'm British but decided to roll on American servers this time around and you're already making me feel 'homesick' talking about those conversations. I would've rolled on that server if I went on EU, too.
Same server as me! Hooray! Will add you when I'm in game :-)
Hydraxian represent!
I am on alliance side, so when you see me, wave.
Stay hydrated!

Chapter 2!

TLDR Basically I did two runs of Ragefire Chasm with varying experiences and travelled a lot around Kalimdor handing in quests and meeting people along the way. Bit of Barrens questing, professions work and joined a UK guild. Currently level 16.
Ragefire Chasm - the first dungeon most Horde players experience. You can tell who has played on a private server before and who has literally hopped across from retail by the way they act, as you will come to see. First group run was like a dream. Formed up a PUG from Trade City chat and met outside the entrance pretty quickly - one dude had to zep from Undercity so we just waited for him and chatted a bit. Everyone shared quests so I had something like five in my log ready to go by the time we started:
/images/skirm2/3.png
I was originally going to tank but another warrior joined as DPS who was higher level than me and had a shield so we swapped places on the spot. The tank knew his limits and often pulled very conservatively. Shaman shocks were pulling threat incredibly so that was a challenge for him, but overall he did a pretty good job considering how little kit you have at that stage.
/images/skirm2/1.png
The rest of the group was good. I messed up a few times but everyone was very friendly and understanding - people actually communicated with each other about CC, pulls, and apologised when blatant mistakes were made. Was good to feel this group cohesiveness again. We finished up everything, even after someone left midway through, the tank brought a level 20 guildie in to help with the last two bosses.
/images/skirm2/2.png
The second group was also great in its own way but experienced my first ninja which wasn't all that great. This hunter guy kept on pulling packs of 3 as I desperately tried to keep aggro off the healer with whatever I could. He was clumsy and just basically not with it. Started noticing his ninja-ing when he rolled need on a green 2H mace.
Called him out on it and asked him not to do it again, but he kept going, taking a very nice +2 str cloak off the two rogues that were with us. Could have kicked him at that point as he was starting to shit up party chat as well but we all decided to just keep going with the dung and flame him for being 'that guy'.
He couldn't hack it and left us about halfway through, taking all the gear he stole with him. We finished the dungeon slowly with just four of us (the two rogues took it in turns to https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6770 nasty casters and the like (there are some big pulls later on) and through a few wipes we prevailed victorious and I dinged 16.
As soon as we were out we let Trade chat know this Hunter's name and reputation. Honestly I wasn't expecting there to be any response but to my surprise there was outrage and people were talking about him for a good 20mins. People whispering me thanking me for calling him out, adding him to guild blacklists etc. it was kind of impressive. Reputation matters in this game.
I got the https://classic.wowhead.com/item=15424 from Thrall the OG homeboy for completing Skull Rock quest chain (culminating in defeating the RFC bosses). It was a pretty sweet upgrade to my crafted axe from before and looks aggressive. Sharpened that blade up with my own https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2863 and hoping this will serve me well until I finish Barrens (or at least until the end of the Harpy quest chain).

/images/skirm2/6.png
From this point on I had a few quests to turn in which ensued a fair bit of travel - two quests in TB and one in UC. Getting to UC was pretty easy with the Zeppelin route. The weather effects were on when I reached Brill and oh my god, THIS is how you build atmosphere in a videogame:
/images/skirm2/7.png
/images/skirm2/8.png
After descending into the subterranean labyrinth I realised I didn't know where the turn-in NPC was. I've been determined to use wowhead and other data tools as little as possible which has led to some really nice encounters for me. For example I just saw this dude standing around and using /say asked him where to find so-and-so. He escorted me to a long corridor and told me to follow it to the end:
/images/skirm2/9.png
Back in Orgrimmar, I'd had enough for one night so I logged off in my usual spot, /sleeping in a hanging hammock above a shop. Does anyone else do this before they log or is just me?
/images/skirm2/11.png
The next day I had recovered energy enough for the foot trail down to Thunder Bluff. I of course stopped by to pay my respects to Mankrik's wife along the way but also saw a disturbing amount of un-ressed player bodies too which I thought was odd:

Scenics from the path South:

/images/skirm2/17.png
I eventually reached Thunder Bluff which never disappoints from this approaching angle:
/images/skirm2/18.png
I'm keeping my professions up at the moment - BS, Mining, FA, Fishing and Cooking are all above 90. My bank is quickly filling up with various useful trade goods which I'm saving for now (waiting for the inevitable price hike of these mats when the wave of players has left lower level zones). I just love coming back from a round of quests and seeing my bags full of profession goodies, nothing like it
/images/skirm2/19.png
And that's about it for now. Looking forward to clocking the Barrens quest lines and of course Wailing Caverns runs once I hit level 19. Until next time!
Yess Tirisfal Glades in rain is AMAZING!
Glad you enjoyed your brief stay  !
I think I have a weird unexplainable fetish for crafting mats stacked neatly in bags.
He messed up! He should have the same type next to each-other and also in number decreasing.
For example, there is a 5 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2840/copper-bar and then some other stuff and then 2x 20 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2840/copper-bar .
What he should have done is 2x 20 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2840/copper-bar , then the 5 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2840/copper-bar and then the 2 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2842/silver-bar .
But that is just me! I always keep my bank and bags very organized.
