So my two sibs and I were thinking of playing classic and because I refuse to do things the easy way I wanted to play with them in a questing and dungeoneering party of only Warlocks/Hunters and was looking for some thoughts and feedback.

We haven't decided on races and factions yet, but we think we're gonna be 2 hunters and a warlock. I've also heard of using restoration shaman gear to "hunter tank" by out healing the damage taken by pets, but what are your thoughts on using druid tanking gear to just beef pet stats?

And thoughts on Pets as well. I know gorillas make good tanks cuz they have an aoe . I have had good luck using bears and boars though. But with TWO hunters what pets do you think would have good synergy along with a warlock pet?

For professions with two hunters a skinner/Leatherworker sounds solid, though I don't remember if in classic LW could make mail for after the hunters level out into mail? With no healer an alchemist/herbalist doesn't sound bad for the group? Dunno about whether the Alch should be the 2nd hunter or the warlock?

Got any feedback on this 3 man 3 pet party?

If you go Horde, roll Orc. All three of you. Hardiness is fucking ridiculous.

True, with only a 3-man-no-healz-band stuns could be a problem so that would be a beneficial racial to have!

Good luck man, lol. Dungeons are easy enough that you might be able to pull this off very slowly. And your first trial arrives by level 20 when you try your first couple of dungeons to see what happens, so it's not a huge time investment and if you hate it then you can just invite a healer and a tank.

Leatherworkers only make leather gear. Chainmail is created with blacksmithing.

2 hunters and a lock is sorta a party of six. Should be doable I suppose give it you take your time and use your CC well.

As someone who has hunter raid tanked t'ill AQ, I can share my thoughts on this. Hunters get a ton of agi/dodge which benefits them in threat and survival. Since you'll only be dungeon tanking, the damage you do in the pulling phase will determine you place on the threat meter most of the time. You can even sneak in a Distracting Shot if the target is slow-able. Having a druid with Thorns casted on you will help. Having a priest with Power:word Shield/Inspiration is also really good. Get Oil of Immolation. Your rotation is Raptor Strike and spamming Winglip while it comes back up and Mongoose bite (if possible). I also suggest getting Shadow Oil and healing potion (cause threat), if you really want to perform well. Pet-wise, wolf is best but don't go out of your way to get one.

You should be more than capable to melee hunter tank, if you do it properly. Although, I don't have a hunter raid tank guide (yet), I do have a Rogue Raid Tank guide which does shares similarities with hunter tank, if you're interested to learn more.

P.S. the warlock can also start tanking at lvl18, if that's more your interest.

Taking our time and "making do with what we have" is a majority of the fun here :)

I am VERY interested in reading your tank guides! I love learning how to do what the classes "aren't suppossed to do" :D

Yeah, I figure if we end up not having fun then we can just respec and be normal hunters/locks and play in a more standard way, but my sibs and I are "...okay let's play with the controller upside down!!!" Kind of people so we might have a good time!

Thanks for the heads up on the LW. I know in retail LW covers some mail later on but it's been so long since I played Old world WoW that I couldn't remember!

LW absolutely does start making mail at 40, and it is itemized for hunters and shaman. Blacksmiths make mail before 40 and it's itemized for warriors and pallys.

Edit: I am a LW on my hunter main, and I make mail armor. The whole black dragonscale set is made by LW.
