Hi everybody, what are some unique or funny moments that has happened to you when you were playing vanilla wow?

1.) I got to experience tanking as a priest in Naxx during the Razuvious fight. I was the one in our guild to mind control one of his sparring guys and tank him during vanilla! I had to get a bunch of hit gear so Mind control would not resist and i also think i went down the shadow tree for the shadow resist talent. Either way it was so different and unique, it was a nice change from healing as a holy priest in all the previous raids!

2.) (Mentioned this in a previous post) In Blackwing Lair, one of our paladins went afk after Vaelastrasz and decided to auto follow the one rogue that was assigned to hit the pillars in the suppression room lol. So you could imagine seeing an un-stealth paladin run in and just stand there aggro-ing all the mobs lol. It was really funny!

3.) Fairly new to the game, I was in Iron Forge, I ran out of the front entrance and I see this huge demon in the distance. I had no idea what it was, I thought there was an event going on or something. He was this huge demon that was ?? to me and many other people attacking it, so i decided to do the same lol. I found out later it was Kazzak that someone kited him to Ironforge lol. I remember everyone dying and aoe shadow bolts flying everywhere. He ran into Ironforge getting bigger and more powerful, killing everything in sight. You couldnt do much there except die lol and eventually the server went down to remove him.

4.) Leveling up as a noob priest, I strictly went holy because I wanted stronger heals all the way to 40 and it was really tough during leveling. But my other friend who was a warrior leveled without upgrading his abilities lol, he essentially was using all rank 1 abilities till like lvl 20 or so. It took him forever to kill anything! This was when you knew nothing and just played because of the enjoyment!

5.) I joined my friends premade PVP group when they needed some bodies. I never went far with pvp, only made it to knight captain, whatever rank that was, but my friend did get grand marshal. Any who, I remember we were playing against the other horde premade because back then you recognize the names before the battle begins. My friend jumped on the other premades ventrilo and was talking with them. This was an AB battle that we were losing and I remember running through the water from Stables, Lumbermill crossroads to Blacksmith and capped the flag as the horde were fighting our group towards Farm. LOL so I snuck up behind them and my friend came back on our ventrilo saying that the other premade were like what the hell happened! How did he cap the flag lol. So apparently they were watching it and I just came up at the right time to cap it, so a split sec to early or too late, I wouldnt have gotten it.

6.) One time we were running through Molten Core and our best mage bugged out presence of mind some how and it was permanently on him when we got to Garr! So through the rest of Molten Core all the druids were innervating him and every healer not on the tanks made sure he never died lol! All you can see is this little gnome mage shooting frostbolts out of his head at such a rapid pace!! It was a crazy scene to see! And when we got to Rag, he went down so fast!! Frostbolt, Frostbolt, Frostbolt ,Frostbolt!! Amazing!

There is so many more I have missed but when I remember, I can add it here!
What about you?

In EPL, occasionally parties would gather up to kill https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Nathanos_Blightcaller for some alliance quest.

I was playing on a PvE server and my 3 buddies and I totally nolifed it to 60 and were having a blast being terrible noobs. we were hanging out in EPL grinding gold or some other nonsense when the LocalDefense channel started blowing up. We figured out what was going on and found a small group of alliance trying to down him, and naturally intervened and wiped them. Honestly everyone was so undergeared and terrible that just CCing the healers would cause them to almost immediately wipe.

10-15 minutes later, we were back doing our grinding when the channel blows up again. We come back to see 2-3x the number of alliance trying again. Again, we charged in, and thus began a crazy zergfest of alliance trying to graveyard tank Nathanos while we harassed them from inside the little house he stood in front of. We tied them up for another hour until there were so many alliance there that the server was lagging out. We got camped for a while after until we figured out we could just wait our flags off while dead. PvE Carebear mode, I know, but it was SUPER funny to see them sperging out with emotes when we rezzed after.

If you didn't know him and weren't prepared he would annihilate you!

I remember another one!

7.) One of my friends was pretty far on the questline to open the gates of AQ40 and our guild went out to Alcatraz Island to fight Doctor Weavil! We never heard of him, didnt know what he did and what to expect. So my friend who was a hunter said he was in this building so we were clearing the mobs outside and inside. He was upstairs and we got to the top and saw him in the back. We all rebuffed and got ready to engage! We were looking at him laughing saying this is Doctor Weavil, this little gnome, should be easy! Okay hunter pull! Holy F%&K, we were not prepared he raped the sh*t out of us lol
We were laughing so hard on ventrillo, saying this little gnome just took out a 40 people raid with ease! We needed to pull him outside to even have a chance at killing him! He seemed harder than any boss in BWL lol

In Gnomer one night we wiped on trash near the end of the instance at the bottom of the ramp. I had soulstoned the priest, who started rezzing people. Impatient rogue releases and tries to stealth back past the respawns and doesn't notice that he aggroed an alarm bot. We see him coming down the ramp trailing many dozens/ maybe hundreds of elites. They hit us like a freight train. I laughed so hard. I don't remember if we kept going after that.

LOL, thats an o shit moment!

As much as that sucks when you want to finish the instance and might be frustrated, this is what made Vanilla, Vanilla!
The unexpected, the unknown, what will happen next!

My mate sent me a link to the official WoW forums one day, and the topic I see is "Kil'Jaeden kill on sight list!" - so I start to look for some big names, some known gankers. What I wasn't expecting to see was my level 32 Warrior Selexin being named in the list! I quickly look at the username of the post and wrack my brain - oh shit Joop, I just killed this priest a couple of days prior in STV. Funny part? He was late 30's and was terrible haha. I was a scrub dual wielding fury warrior, but he must have been pretty horrible at his class. I killed him a few times then moved on to questing, which earned m a spot on a forum hitlist.

So then, whenever my friends and I were out and about and saw Joop, he was /laugh'ed and killed instantly from then on. We did run into him in the world a couple of times after that and killed him. There was also another Joop on Jubei'thos when I played there, I assume it was the same guy since he was playing Oceanic timezone hours on Kil'Jaeden so he was probably Aussie like us. That is one of my favourite memories from 2005 Vanilla WoW. 2006 Vanilla WoW for me was on Jubei'thos F R E S H oceanic server, which was fantastic fun, but meant only 1 year lifespan of server before TBC.

1./
In ZG, you could be MC'd (by the old spirits I guess?) when you were standing on the pile of skulls in the room of Thekal.
During this time, you hit like a freaking truck.
One day, while being MC'd, I killed my dumbass of a Guild Master and few others. That felt gooood. I still have the screenshot of a sweeping strikes that hit him for 5 600 lol

2./
I remember an endless battle for Kazzak that went for hours and hours. It resulted in a ton of tickets to the GM's, an unfair situation established by the GM's to prevent any further trouble to kill the boss and a big drama topic that lasted +50 pages before being locked...

These are actually funny, unique moments from early WotlK but I wanted to share to make you laugh, and for the nostalgia kick. Hope nobody minds!

1.) While levelling in Tanaris, a Death Knight kidnapped me. Whenever I tried to run, he would use Death Grip to pull me back, or just kill me and wait for me to return to my body before Death Gripping me again :< Funny thing was he was roleplaying the entire time. Built a campfire, kept emoting that he wanted to talk things over with me, saying stuff in another language (can't remember race). I had to just play along!
2.) I'd just started doing dungeons and my friend told me that hit rating is really important. I used my JC to make a bunch of hit gems and socketed them to my gear. Think I must have been way over the hit cap because first dungeon I went to, the tank inspected me and was like "LOL WTF is with all the hit?" and kicked me from the group! I was also wearing a bizarre combo of Mail, Plate and Cloth - with stats I didn't even need as a ret pala.
3.) Stumbling across a RP guild in Durnholde Keep while levelling. Their hunters kept shooting me on sight so I asked my guild and /localdefence for help. Thus initiating world PVP of epic proportions.
4.) Pre-WotlK Scourge Invasion patch where you could get infected and pass on the scourge to other players and NPCs. Pretty much wiped out Orgrimmar on the first day -- people were yelling at the city gates for people to stay away, Thrall had his own small of army of loyal players trying to protect him from getting killed.

I guess I find these stories to be relevant to vanilla because they exemplify some of the best things about WoW that have been lost through the course of the expansions - World PvP, interactivity within a server, so many random players just RPing solo because they love the world, and the challenge of learning how to play and gear your class.

Haha! I am also planning on rolling a warlock for the first time so I imagine I will be in the same boat. I'm going to try not to Google anything and try and keep it to the original experience - having to figure it out in game. One of the best things about vanilla though was people would put you straight if you did something stupid - either in a friendly way or in a GTFO n00b way. I could take my Holydin to a LFR group in BFA, wearing all cloth and just AFK and I doubt anyone would even comment.
