Just uploaded a new run of the entire zone 1-12. I also changed up the route a bit for a smoother 10-12 transition. It's a little sloppier with a death and a combat bug midway through, but I still got 10 in 1h42m so I'd say it's better. Should have the 12-20 video up sometime next weekend.
https://youtu.be/zX0pCQR6zYE

Just watched your route from 1-10. Tbh i think u can get it down to 1.35 with some improvements. If u want try this.

Farm 2 extra bars in Trials. That way u get shadowbolt rank 2 before u leave.

Instead of going straight to razer, farm to 7 vs the lvl 6-7 humanoids (Not the marines) - There is a good route to farm these only. It's from the place where u jump down after getting the letter. Here there is 5x, then u walk to the corner of the castle (2 more here, and 2 more outside) and then u farm the ones outside with the marines.

When u hit 7 die and go to razer. Go do the same thing as u did last time. Then back to The castle and do the same thing again while finishing the quests, this time to level 8 instead. Here u learn level 8 spells too ofc. When u go deliver at the tower go do first part of encroachment, after that u walk to the sea.

Now here u don't want to farm crabs/makura u get maybe 4/8 and 3/4, so u walk straight to the "castle sea area" u pick up the toolbox on the ship near the shore at the castle (3x here) then u swim across to the island closest to you (biggest one) here u can finish makura/crabs/tiger/egg (Crabs lvl 7-8 here so more exp for your level, reason it's better)

Then u just go finis the troll quests.

Now u should be around 1000/6500 exp. U want to farm to 2200 (I skip centuar quest here, because it's not worth it in my opnion)

When u reach 2200 exp u just go deliver quests and u will be level 10.

This route increased my time A LOT as rogue. My time is 1.41 (and rogue kills/farms much slower) so imagine if you do it, u can get it down to like 1.35 or so. The route is bassicly planned around having your "upgraded" spells for the longer farming routes.

Ofcourse in classic it's unlikely you can use this route, unless it's heavily sharded, but it is much faster for sure

If u want a visual of the run u can check my twitch vods (tactics_lol)

Oh damn that makes total sense. Yeah I always thought running to the centaurs was a giant waste of time and I'm glad to hear someone else confirm it. Thanks for the tips Tactics. I'll check out one of your runs before I do my next one.

Here's my orc warlock 1-10 in 1h37m33s video. Sorry for the lack of sound; it's my first time using OBS and I forgot to add a audio source. 10-20 will have game sounds, but no music so you can play your own.

I'm aware there are many flaws in this run, but I do welcome feedback!

Been hoping you'll upload a vid. Thanks for sharing. Will have to check this one out before my next run as well.

Sure thing. Now I'm curious about Tactics' route... I'll have to test that sometime.

Tbh, i have been doing that run for weeks. The problem is that i think it's only better in repack and not on launch (to farm heavy).

Today i however tried a COMPLETELY diffrent orc route, involving silverpine & sword training as rogue. To be honest i exspected it to be slower, my main reason for doing it was because i could get a good level 20 sword and didn't have other times i could learn sword other then early. Also thought MAYBE i could use silverpine to just go close to even my old time.

So i tried this route and managed to break my old record with 46 mins FIRST TRY, tbh i played almost flawless, dont think i can get that time down more then 5 mins.

My total time ended up being 7:50:09

Tbh i didn't think i would ever manage to go below 8 hours on rogue, but i did it :D

Will start on my 1-30 routing later this week or next week.

Also will stream my route tomorrow/tuesday if anyone is interested :)

Respect - you're going hard man. Will be for sure watching your run once it's out. Do you think it'll be good for locks as well?

Not sure my silverpine will be good, it might be faster for repack, but it will make u behind the pack in barrens. My silver route is bassicly my old barrens route but i skip 2nd centuar boss and stonetalon. In old run i did both of these and farmed more which made up for the exp i get in silverpine. The main reason i do silverpine was for sword weapon upgrades (best i can get 10-15) this is why i save a lot of time, while at the same time doing the easy silverpine quests and hearth back. I think my original route can work for warlock, but u need to change when u go learn spells and maybe u shouldnt go thunderbluff (i do for mace skill, for a lvl 16 upgrade).

I made like 3 or 4 mins of obvious mistakes so I could get sub 1:45, but my main goal is to route a full 1-60 so I'll probably just leave my time here. I wanted to sacrifice everything past level 10 just to see how low I could get the time. I sold bags and cloth and all that just to buy weapon/armor from vendor sooner. Obviously in a real longer run I won't be doing that. I did a more realistic run before and it was about 1:52 if i remember right. My route for this video is pretty grind heavy after level 5 because the palemane mobs are the best xp/hr until level 10, plus I can do all the quests in the surrounding area in between easily. Hopefully other people upload mulgore speedruns of any class because I'm curious what others do.

And if you are wondering why I'm crazy and am running Tauren Warrior, it's only because that will be my non-speedrun main and I want to level it fast on launch :) ... so yeah my real plan on launch will incorporate far different strategies at times to account for what will and will not likely be viable in the launch chaos.

Thank you for this! I learned quite a lot from your run :)

I am getting under impression that speedrunning is not for me at all. I see all your great times and then around lvl 8 I check my time in practice runs and its usually around 1h45m (as a tauren hunter). Those pesky dwarves keep kicking my butt.

I do not like to grind as it is horribly tedious activity for me so that might be the reason for my worse times :D

Anyway, good job and good luck everyone! :)

E: Just below 3h, shame :(

I wouldn't feel too discouraged. Maybe speedruns aren't your thing, but only practice can make it better. I also got inspired to try my hand at leveling to 10. Took me about 3 hrs 15 min and that was with accidentally keeping god mode on at points where I should have died!

The thing is I don't like grinding and I have prepared route which involve as little grinding as possible. So now I am wondering how to try speedrunning without grinding. Practice definitely help and also helps checking other videos how other people did it. I will also now try it on more populated servers as it will be more realistic to what will be on classic.

And that it is for me - preparation for classic, I know I will not be no1 here. :)

Thanks for kind words :)

I went from 2:27 on ND 1-10 to 1:38 on repack in like 2-3 months of practice with a full time job and a kid. That’s quite a noticeable impact for getting ahead on a fresh server. Don’t expect to just start doing it and get immediate results, I play high AF so I have to learn everything the hard way.

How do you guys anticipate having to change your routes come launch. Alot of the grinding will be almost impossible, do you figure rushing out of the starting zone is going to be the best shot?

Did you try again on ND after that practice? I would be interested how would more people playing around change your times. To get better idea what time you can expect on classic.

I have been trying speed runs on both Durotar and Tirisfal Glades area as a mage and seems I am stuck on around 2 hours, give or take 1-2 minutes to hit level 10. Normally it takes me 31-35 minutes to get out of the initial 1-5 area at around 5.7-5.8 experience levels. I'm looking for ways to shave off some time and optimizing my route. I could use some advice. Things I already do:

  • Use deathwarp from spider cave to the grave (remains turn in) in initial 1-5 starting area (Undead start)

  • Prioritize level 1 targets while on first quest and 2nd quest to speed up kill time

  • Have sit macro to speed up dying for deathwarp (also aware of the graveyard respawn border locations)

  • Picking up herbalism to speed up both Doomweed and Gloomweed quests (easy to see spawns/respawns)

  • Getting Ice Cold Milk when doing Level 6 training

  • I was originally using Joana's route but found out trying to kill the gnoll boss 4 levels lower level does not work without help. I modified the route a bit and was able to shave off some more time by grouping Murlocks and Gnoll boss quests together and deathwarping back

  • I'm trying to use regeneration ticks and 5 second rule to my advantage

  • I'm generally using Fireball/Frostbolt (most recent learned one), at 6th level I only use Fireblast if I think I will get pushback to get to spirit ticks faster

  • Since I'm testing on Lightbringer, I do not have access to properly statted Lesser Magic Wand. I may have to test if I can craft that quickly enough as that would help a lot. Maybe agree to make one for someone for their cloth to hit the needed skill level and materials.

  • I have tried buying better staff on starting area, but effect of the staff was not that much, maybe 1 minute at most.

  • I understand there will be additional challenged depending on how many people are around and how much sharding is affecting the population. This has effect of delaying completion of some kill quests and making few quests easier like Gnoll Boss and Crypt (not really doable solo for me or taking too long time as it will be 4 pull without getting to initiate the fight or have distance to start first)

I think I can definitely do sub 1:50 on ND but it’s really dependent on how many people are on leveling in starting zones when you play. I live in NA so I’m usually not on at peak times for the server.
