I never played Vanilla, started in Wotlk, skipped Cata/MoP and came back for WoD, although the last 3 expansions I've maybe played for a month or two each one before leaving.
What I miss most from my Wotlk days is the sense of a community in your server, getting to know people, having a guild that is really close even though they don't do much raiding. Idk man, nowadays whenever I play I try to look for a guild that is social and active but if it's not a raiding guild you can be sure that no one gives two damns about the other guildies.
I also want to experience the game at it's fullest again, like when I first leveled. Since my first toon in Wotlk, all my other characters have been about just getting to the max level and then worrying about content, I didn't give two shits if my gear at lvl 112 was bad because I just wanted to get to 120 and get the best gear for that level. I feel like in Classic I will take things slower, level up my professions as I do and have fun socializing in the game.

That's a great attitude that I hope a lot of people adopt.

Same... Hopefully there aren't many tryhards, although gaming has kinda evolved towards that, hyper competitive games. Maybe people will take Classic differently, for me it isn't only about beating X boss or having the best gear, but the journey and the experiences.

I have the same mentality coming into Classic. I want to take leveling slow and fully experience the world rather than how I would level in retail right now, which is practically blitzing through content and dungeon finders.

I think it'll make me appreciate more about the game and actually make connections to other players. That's important to me because none of my online or irl buddies are going to be playing Classic, so I'm gonna have to make some good friends to tag along with!

I played a lot of Warcraft 3, it was my first foray into Blizzard games and I loved it! Then World of Warcraft came out, I didn't even know it existed till a few months after - when I played it at my friends house. I was an 11 year old kid in primary school at the time and seeing my friends Dad running through Redridge on a level 38 Nelf Hunter, surrounded by other players kfighting some horde invaders was absolutely magical to me.

They let me have a go and make a character and it just gripped me. I had never experienced playing a third person RPG with OTHER PEOPLE. That's where my love affair for multiplayer games stems, and I thank WoW for that wholeheartedly.

From there, I only got to 47 on my Dwarf Hunter before the end of Vanilla, then obtained my friends 60 Paladin coming into TBC, however only got to 65 during TBC. I was never very good at sitting down and levelling, I was always busy exploring, talking to people or working on professions. I never played endgame until WotLK where I played an 80 DK. Unfortunately after WotLK I lost all motivation to play, getting to 85 in Cata on my previously mentioned Paladin, but giving up shortly after. I didn't play again properly till Legion, but only then for 3 months.

Prior to legion I had been lucky enough to play Nostalrius, and raid properly through MC and BWL. It was every part of Vanilla I had remembered, but this time I got to do a lot of the content that I missed out on. I am ~REALLY~ looking forward to having the experience again, but this time with proper support and hopefully local servers. It will be a magical time for sure!

What drew me: Saw my uncle playing in 2005. I would just spectate for hours until one day I saved up enough to buy the game. It was the first and only MMO I ever played. I was never a “gamer” and didn’t have any consoles growing up. I was still leveling in EPL when the scourge invasion event (and the tabard to prove it) was going on, so didn’t have any true vanilla experience in the sense that I understood what I was playing or what the changes that were about to take place meant. My fondest and most formative memories were all TBC, the most profound being in Honor Hold and Zangarmarsh.

I guess why I want to play vanilla is that I have some fleeting sense of what it was, partially because I know what it became. That is, up until SoO when I cancelled my subscription. The thought of what it was excites me and it would still be a truly new experience. I would not be fatigued by recurring themes or timelines. I could essentially have a virgin experience....like my very first time 😂😂

Zangarmarsh.

My man! What a great zone, I loved it. And Nagrand of course, but everyone loved that zone (surely?).

My vanilla WoW experience was short lived, though I couldn't tell you why. Perhaps I was impatient back then, as a 15 year old boy. I have played every expansion from WotLK to BfA (barely) since, and they've gone further and further away from the RPG experience.

So I'm effectively in the having not played vanilla camp really, given the short period I committed.

Time to make it right.

Exactly, since my first character in Wotlk, I have always leveled with the mentality of hitting max level asap. That's my fault, but it is true that nowadays in retail the community has changed in a way that encourages this and not player interaction/fun times just hanging around.
