Hey BC!

If you're anything like us over at Warcraft Tavern you're extremely excited to get going playing WoW Classic when it launches at the end of this month. Since we have nothing to do but wait we figured we’d take a look back at everything that’s happened that’s lead to the release of World of Warcraft Classic and it’s upcoming phases.

Hope you enjoy!

EDIT: We just noticed that we made a typo and put "Mike Kern" instead of "Mark Kern", fullest apologies!

No BFA on the timeline?

Great work though, really nice quality.

Thanks! We didn't add anything related to BfA because it was gigantic already, and since Classic had already been announced by that point.

Thanks for sharing! It was a joy to read through, especially because of all of the awesome artwork. It was also a nice walk down memory lane... crazy how fast the years ago.

Why do so many people act like Nost was the only private Classic server ever? Does nobody remember The Emerald Dream or Molten Core?

Why does this chart rank Legion a success and MoP mixed, when Legion was just more of the same dumpster fire as Warlords and BfA while MoP was one of the best expansions?

And by the way, people have been demanding Classic servers ever since Burning Crusade launched. Don't act like this all started with the Shattering.

Nost was a catalyst, the Cataclysm was a catalyst. It wasn't the beginning, but it was a huge shift in the feelings of the community.

This information is likely drawn from money earned, sub numbers, etc. not any kind of measurement on how good the game actually was at the time.

As for completeness, they abbreviated the history with the biggest events and things that could be seen as a turning point. This is also going to be numbers based, rather than how early some type of seed was planted.

Then why was Legion mentioned? It didn't boost interest in Classic realms. Why was the Beta test mentioned if very few people participated in it? Why was Elysium mentioned if it never went anywhere? There doesn't seem to be any consistent logic to what's included and what isn't.
