Enchanting Guide for Season of Discovery (SoD) Phase 8

Phase 8 of Season of Discovery retains the 300 skill cap introduced in Phase 3 for professions, allowing players to max out their crafting and gathering skills in case they haven’t already done so. For the Enchanting profession, that means you’ll be able to perform any enchantment, as well as a few new ones that have been added for this season.

Enchanting Leveling & Trainers

Check out our Classic Enchanting Guide for trainer locations, a leveling guide, and more. Everything in that guide applies to Season of Discovery except for the level requirements for higher skill ranks (level 26 for Expert and level 41 for Artisan). There are some new recipes that are exclusive to Season of Discovery which we’ll cover in this guide, but they aren’t needed for leveling.

Learning Artisan Enchanting

From Phase 3 onward, players were able to level their professions all the way to 300 skill, or Artisan level – the maximum skill for Vanilla WoW.

Artisan Enchanting can only be learned from one specific trainer:

• Annora inside Uldaman in a small chamber near the Ancient Stone Keeper

You may want to consider bringing the materials to level to at least 250 when you visit her so you don’t have to keep going back to learn all of her formulas.

New Enchanting Formulas for Season of Discovery

Phase 8 adds a handful of new weapon enchants, which can be obtained from the mage tower in New Avalon:

• Enchant 2H Weapon – Grand Inquisitor

Phase 5 only adds two new enchants from the Zandalar Tribe which were also available in the Vanilla WoW version of the game.

Phase 4 brings three new formulas while unlocking most high-end enchants by allowing players to reach level 60!

Phase 3 has added two new formulas for Enchanters:

• Scroll of Spatial Mending is a scroll that is needed for some rune discoveries
• Enchanted Sigil: Living Dreams is a Bind-on-Pickup personal buff item

In Phase 2, we saw three brand new recipes:

• Enchanted Sigil: Innovation is a Bind-on-Pickup item for Enchanters that provides a powerful personal buff
• Enchant Chest – Retricutioner is a new chest enchantment that reflects melee damage
• Enchant Weapon – Dismantle is a new weapon enchantment that can deal extra damage to mechanical enemies

One new Enchanting recipe was added to the game for Phase 1:

• Blackfathom Mana Oil provides casters and healers with additional MP5 and Spell Hit while inside the Blackfathom Deeps raid

Encrypted Texts look like scrolls and can be found lying on the ground, tables, and shelves. They can be activated either by a character with Enchanting or by a Mage with Comprehension Charms. These can contain any of the Phase 7 Enchanting recipes.

Enchanted Materials

There are two crafting components that Enchanters can make for use by other professions. Enchanted Thorium Bar is used exclusively for Blacksmithing while Enchanted Leather is needed by Blacksmithing, Engineering, Leatherworking, and Tailoring.

Enchanting Rods

Enchanting rods are required for most Enchanting recipes. Luckily they are not used up in the crafting process, so you should only have to make each rod once.

Phase 8 Enchanting Materials

When disenchanting items, you have a chance to receive dust, essence, or shard materials based on the type of item you are disenchanting:

• Uncommon (green) armor: 75% dust / 20% essence / 5% shard
• Uncommon (green) weapon: 75% essence / 20% dust / 5% shard
• Rare (blue) items: 100% shard
