Blizzard increases maximum realm capacity for WoW Classic

Blizzard Community Manager Kaivax posted today that they are increasing the maximum capacity on all realms to help combat queue times.

Obviously this combined with statements made by Ion Hazzikostas with his recent interview with Forbes signifies that Blizzard still expect a significant number of players to stop playing in the near future, otherwise they would be added more realms instead of more layers. They so far remain commited to removing layering prior to Phase 2.

With hotfixes that we are currently deploying to all WoW Classic realms, we are substantially increasing the number of players that can be simultaneously logged in and playing. We expect this to result in smaller queues for realms that have large queues, and some realms should no longer have queues at all.

We will closely monitor performance and stability throughout this process.

Thank you very much.

Curious what will happen if player numbers don’t drop as far as they predicted.
