Crackling Shard Farming & Alunira Mount Guide

The Crackling Shard is required to unlock one of the special mounts in The War Within. The item is quite difficult to obtain, serving as the main way to break Alunira‘s prison and obtain the Alunira mount.
Acquisition
Crackling Shard are among the hardest items to acquire in The War Within, as their drop chance is extremely low. This means that you will have to face a long grind until you manage to get your hands on them. Crackling Shard can drop from a large variety of mobs in the Isle of Dorn, however, most of them have a drop chance below 1%.
There are 165 mobs in total that can drop a Crackling Shard. We will only be listing the mobs that have a drop chance of 1% or above 1% as we consider them the best way to acquire Crackling Shards!

Since the Escaped Cutthroat has the highest drop chance for Crackling Shard, we recommend that you attempt to kill the Rare Mob as often as possible. Keep in mind that most of the Rare Mobs and Rare Elite Mobs on the list have quite a long respawn timer, meaning that you will have to spend a considerable amount of time hunting for them.
Getting the Alunira Mount
As stated previously, the Crackling Shard is the main requirement to obtain the Alunira mount! Once you manage to collect 10 x Crackling Shard, you may Right-Click on the item to turn it into a Storm Vessel. After you gain the Storm Vessel, you can go to the peak of Dhar Oztan and use it on Alunira to break her Protective Stormshroud.
After the Protective Stormshroud is pierced, Alunira can be engaged in combat and slain! Once you manage to do so, all you’ll have to do is loot her and receive the Alunira mount.
