The Severed Threads Renown Guide

The Severed Threads is a faction of Nerubian dissidents who have joined forces against Queen Ansurek and her followers in Azj-Kahet. The faction is led by a triumvirate of leaders who each have their own reputations to earn, feeding the parent faction’s renown: The Weaver, The General, and The Vizier. The Severed Threads was added to the game with The War Within and is the fourth and final faction that players encounter as part of the main story campaign for the continent of Khaz Algar.

How to Get The Severed Threads Reputation

To start earning Renown with The Severed Threads, you must first unlock the faction for your Warband by completing the Khaz Algar main story campaign through the quest The Tangled Web. This quest is required to unlock the faction, but once it is unlocked you will not need to unlock it again for any of your characters. The quest is completed shortly after you arrive in Azj-Kahet, though you will need to complete the main story in Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, and Hallowfall before you get there.

There are 25 ranks of Renown, each with their own rewards. Each level of Renown requires 2500 points of reputation with the faction. To see your current progress, open the Khaz Algar Summary by clicking on the icon in your minimap, then click on The Severed Threads. You can hover over the faction icon at the top of the window to see your current progress. You can also open the Reputation tab of your Character window (default hotkey U) and hover over The Severed Threads there under The War Within.

Once you have unlocked the faction for your Warband, there are several ways to increase your reputation with The Severed Threads and its three Pact leaders. Note that the majority of your renown with this faction will be earned through the Pact leaders; see the next section for more info on how this works!

• Completing standard quests in Azj-Kahet
• Killing rare spawns in Azj-Kahet
• Locating the five lore objects for Khaz Algar Lore Hunter in Azj-Kahet and City of Threads
• Completing the weekly quest for your current Pact
• Completing World Quests in Azj-Kahet
• Completing any World Quests in Khaz Algar while Contract: The Severed Threads is active

Note that only the World Quests and leader quests are repeatable for earning reputation.

The Severed Threads Pacts

Although you can gain some reputation with The Severed Threads directly, most of the renown you gain with the faction will be through its unique Pacts feature. Each week you can choose to forge a Pact with one of the faction’s three leaders. You will earn reputation with these leaders individually, which in turn will feed the main faction.

Every level of reputation you gain with a Pact leader translates to 1 level of renown with The Severed Threads. Each Pact leader has 9 ranks of reputation to progress through, and each rank requires 2500 points of reputation. • The Weaver, Widow Arak’nai, is the first of the three leaders you’ll encounter as you progress through the main story campaign. You’ll be able to start earning reputation with her starting with the quest A Seeming Respite.
• The General, Anub’azal, is unlocked with the quest The General’s Consensus.
• The Vizier, Executor Nizrek, can be accessed after completing the quest Into a Skittering City.

Earning Reputation With The Severed Threads & Pact Leaders

Azj-Kahet Quests

Many quests across the Azj-Kahet zone provide The Severed Threads reputation or Pact reputation when completed for the first time on your Warband. These quests will be the quickest way to get started with the faction, but you will eventually run out of quests and will need to farm reputation through the other activities listed below.

Azj-Kahet Rare Spawns

Many rare spawns throughout the zone provide reputation with each of the Pact leaders when killed. They grant 50 reputation for each, but only once per week. You can see all of their locations in our Khaz Algar Rare Locations & Achievements Guide.

Azj-Kahet Lore Objects

Five of the lore objects required for the Khaz Algar Lore Hunter achievement can be found in Azj-Kahet and the City of Threads. Each of these five discoveries grants 85 reputation with each of the three Pact leaders when clicked. You can see all of their locations in our Khaz Algar Lore Hunter Achievement Guide.

Pact Weekly Quests

When you make a Pact with one of the three leaders of The Severed Threads, you’ll be able to pick up the weekly quest for that leader from Y’tekhi in The Weaver’s Lair. The weekly quest awards 1500 reputation with the selected Pact as well as a cache of Adventurer’s loot.

Azj-Kahet World Quests

There are many World Quests scattered across Khaz Algar that award reputation with The Severed Threads‘ Pact leaders. They will be marked for the faction when you hover over them on your map. You’ll gain about 17 reputation for each of the three Pacts per World Quest. We cover them all in our Azj-Kahet World Quest Guide.

Contract: The Severed Threads

Contract: The Severed Threads is a crafted item that you can use once a week. When used, your entire Warband will gain 15 reputation with The Severed Threads every time you complete a world quest in Khaz Algar. The contract expires with the weekly reset.

This item can be crafted with the Inscription profession. You’ll need at least level 80 in Khaz Algar Inscription and rank 4 with the faction to craft it. Technique: Contract: The Severed Threads can be purchased from the Severed Threads quartermaster with 150 Artisan’s Acuity. Here are the ingredients to make the contract:

• 25x Shadow Ink
  • 20x Distilled Algari Freshwater
    • Purchased from Kardu in Dornogal (48.6, 70.8)
  • 5x Orbinid Pigment
    • Milled from Orbinid x10
  • 5x Blossom Pigment
    • Milled from Blessing Blossom x10
• 1x Fresh Parchment
  • Purchased from Kardu in Dornogal (48.6, 70.8)

The Severed Threads Quartermaster

You’ll find Y’tekhi, the Renown Quartermaster for the The Severed Threads, on the northern platform at The Weaver’s Lair in Azj-Kahet (57.6, 46.8).

The Severed Threads Rewards

Earning Renown with The Severed Threads unlocks access to rewards and content in Khaz Algar for your entire Warband.

Vendor Rewards

The following rewards can be purchased from Y’tekhi at the appropriate Renown level.

Currency Rewards

Periodically as you level up your renown, you’ll be able to visit Y’tekhi to turn in quests that grant currency rewards. Be sure to check in with her every so often so you don’t miss anything.

Content Unlocks

You’ll also unlock content as you level up your renown, including a new title for your characters.
