New “Light and Shadow” Animated Short Tells the Story of Alleria Windrunner

As Blizzard ramps up for the imminent launch of The War Within, they have released a new 2D animated short that tells the tale of Alleria Windrunner, one of the main heroes of this expansion.

The video covers Alleria’s backstory, starting with her origins in Quel’Thalas as a high elf and one of the three Windrunner sisters. We follow her as she fights for the people of Azeroth and falls in love with Turalyon, with whom she has a son. Then we recap the events of Legion, where Alleria embraces the void and develops her unique powers – but at a cost.

Throughout the video, Alleria asks herself if she would do things differently if she had known where it would lead. In the end, she resolves that she would not, and reaffirms her purpose as a “solder of Azeroth.”
